Every month we will choose different products to focus on to give you some extra detail. After all, our drinks have some incredible stories behind them. So, without further adieu, let’s begin with our very own Traces Wine.

What is Traces Wine?

Traces Wine was created by the team at DrinkWell from over a decade of experience in the wine industry. Traces was born out of a passion for bringing more of what people love to the market and less of what they don't. Traces wanted to bring quality and craftsmanship to the lighter calorie alcohol industry and that's exactly what the brand encompasses.

Traces is re-tracing the path to great wine with innovation imprinted into every sip. It's where wine meets your balanced lifestyle. Naturally crafted in the South Of France, the range consists of a Sauvignon Blanc, a fresh, delicate Rosé and the latest vintage also boasts a Cinsault Red.

Traces is Europe's leading clean and sustainable wine brand and at 11% ABV only contains 78 calories per glass and no sugar or any other nasties.

Since launching in 2022, the range has won multiple awards, sold out on multiple occasions and also topped Amazon's bestseller list in wine.

How is Traces Wine made?

A lot of our customers ask how there can be 0g of sugar, yet 11% alcohol in a glass of Traces wine, which pleasingly leads us on to the fascinating winemaking process.

The trio is made in vineyards in the South of Frace between Bezier and Montpelier, more precisely in the Cotes de Thongue just 30 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea. The plots here were selected for a very specific reason, and that is because they are known for ‘précose’ or ‘early ripening.’ The grapes are then harvested 10 days before the main harvested early in the morning which naturally reduces the volume of sugar in the grapes.

We then age the wine on lees over the course of 5 months to allow for structure and complexity. On the Sauvignon specifically, we moved the lees several times with bâtonnage during November to improve flavour, aroma and texture whilst maintaining the clean and light balance.

Finally, the wine is fermented at a cool temperature between 15/16° for two weeks, followed by a third week at a slightly warmer temperature. This, along with cultured yeasts ensures all the potential sugar is consumed by the alcoholic fermentation to hit our target of zero sugar in the final product.

What does Traces Wine taste like?

With 0g of sugar, we understand why some people may be sceptical about how our wine tastes. You will be pleased to know that when you remove the sugar from wine, it does not remove the flavour, it just reduces the length of the flavour staying in your taste buds. Therefore, reduced sugar wine does not taste any different, it just doesn’t last as long.

Is Traces Wine suitable for people with specific dietary needs?

Yes! Traces is a 100% natural and unique wine. Our wine is filtered in a modern process to make it gluten-free and vegan. Just because wine comes from grapes doesn't automatically make all wine vegan! Some wines aren't even suitable for vegetarians.
