Following many pizza excursions over the last few years I had a few comments about giving this place a go. It’s at the city end of West Bridgford (WB) on the busy corner opposite the Trent Bridge Inn. On this Saturday evening they were doing a roaring takeaway trade, for the denizens of WB who didn’t want to brave the February weather. Their small unit does seem a little like a place where the restaurant section was an afterthought. Half a dozen tables are in a pretty but sparse area with a bustling open kitchen towards the back. It was lovely to see some local beers available and I drank Castle Rock Session at £5.50 for a 440ml can.

Pizza options were pretty classic and I decided upon my usual capricciosa (£15) to pit it against against the competition. Despite the busy kitchen it came out in good time and immediately I could tell that it looked the part. It could be the best pizza in Nottingham for all tastes. I love the softer crusted Neapolitan style, this had enough doughy bounce for I but also a crunch to satisfy those who are differently (wrongly) inclined. The toppings were solid with some minor criticism.I prefer Fior Di Latte over Mozzarella. A chunky artichoke on just on once slice is unmanageable, slice em up and scatter more widely please. In a similar vein the olives had no adhesion to the pizza and were flying all over the shop. I am really clutching at straws.

The cost is £1 more than my favourite Rudy’s and Pizzamissu but I can forgive that and be safe in recommending Baba Dough. Its the classic conundrum, if you live closer to the city perhaps there isn’t quite enough of a reason to venture here but if I was in WB I can imagine I would be a regular.
